Experience - and how to get it - is a familiar stumbling block for young graduates when looking for their first job. Fortunately, ISDI, the world’s first digital business school, could be about to solve this.
A unique new MBA course in digital business dubbed the ‘MBA of the digital world’ is launching this September at ISDI’s Madrid campus. The program is aimed specifically at 21-27-year-old graduates with five or less years of work experience and offers them the chance to develop a unique set of skills.
As part of the course they will also gain work experience through internships with digital industry leaders such as Accenture and will be trained by experts at leading digital companies such as Google, Salesforce and LinkedIn, among others. All of this together provides candidates with the much-needed skills and experience to join the rapidly growing digital workforce.
‘All that’s required is a curious mind and a desire to transform your profile to become a guru in all elements of digital business,’ explains Rodrigo Miranda, ISDI’s general manager.
Toolkits for success
Strong technological aptitude is a highly attractive business skill in the current era, with CEOs on the hunt for talent to speed up their digital transformation. However, Miranda points out that technological skills don’t necessarily translate immediately in the workplace.
“Young people often aren’t well-prepared to start with new digital jobs in top companies because they barely know how to create and implement digital strategy, processes, and methodology aside from other things such as tools and innovation,’ he says.
The Digital MBA aims to tackle this by providing students with the core skills in business and strategy that will provide a solid grounding and turn them into the ‘digital leaders’ of the future. Students on the Digital MBA will leave equipped with a digital toolkit that covers everything from Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and DevOps, as well as strong business knowledge.
Miranda says on completion of the course students will be equipped with everything needed to go on and become digital leaders in global companies and secure positions related to the digital world.

Digital Transformation Project Manager: Digital transformation is the integration of digital technology in all areas of a business, and digital transformation project managers are the agents of that change. They play a vital role in helping businesses move towards a data-driven approach to decision making and implementing key digital solutions. Projects can cover the whole digital spectrum, from e-commerce to mobile, analytics and social networks. In this role, employees can have real impact affecting digital change at a companywide level.
E-commerce Specialist: As web-savvy and computer professionals, e-commerce specialists are responsible for making a business highly accessible to customers. They drive product, content and user strategy and assist with standards, technologies and practices for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce models. They also monitor the day-to-day activity of website and work to improve them, both to drive sales and better the user experience.
Digital Analyst: In today’s ‘big data’ world, digital analysts are in high demand. Analysts are crucial components in the strategies of digital departments and are responsible for making decisions, producing meaningful KPI (key performance indicator) reports and dashboards. Digital analysts have the opportunity to impact entire strategies and commercial opportunities and also can identify new opportunities for process improvement.
Placements and scholarships
A highly qualified faculty of digital experts and industry professionals will teach students during ISDI’s Digital MBA. The course is also designed to feature masterclasses from top companies such as Airbnb, Google, Havas Media, Twitter, Vente-privee.com and Nestle among others.
The Digital MBA includes six ‘building block’ modules to ensure a well-rounded study program. In Innovation Methodologies, students will learn about new methodologies and tools such as Kanban used widely in digital start-ups. Another key module, Business Context, covers digital business, finance, law and technology to give all students a common central framework to work from.
During the Digital Business Execution module, Digital MBA students will get up to speed on content, big data, and apps while the Digital Leadership module provides the vital skills in time management, communication and leadership required to lead on digital projects. Digital Technology Execution will teach students about Technology and DevOps whilst Digital Vision gives them an overview of the digital ecosystem and today’s digital consumer.
Students are also given the opportunity to complete real-world experience through work placements in top firms. Candidates applying for the Digital MBA have the opportunity to access a talent assessed scholarship sponsored by Accenture which covers up to 50 percent of course fees.
